World Nutella Day 2009!
World Nutella Day is coming up on Thursday, February 5th, and Gluten-Free Inspired will be celebrating along with all the other fans of this delicious chocolate, hazelnut spread. You may be asking, but it is gluten-free? Yes, it is. That’s why I am so excited to be participating with all the other bloggers out there!
I learned about World Nutella Day thanks to Michelle Fabio at Bleeding Expresso. If you scroll down and look in the right-hand column you will see her blog listed in the section, Other Blogs I Like. Michelle and I have something in common, aside from loving nutella! We both have Calabrian roots. Yes, my grandfather was from Calabria, Italy, and Michelle lives in Calabria in her ancestors’ hilltop village. How cool is that?
Anyway, getting back to World Nutella Day. If you are not familiar with this tasty spread, you should go out and buy yourself a jar. If you are familiar with it, what is your favorite way to eat it? Please post a comment below and tell me about your memories of eating Nutella, or share a recipe.
Sara from Ms. Adventures in Italy and Michelle from Bleeding Espresso (and Shelley from At Home in Rome, in spirit) solemnly declare Thursday, February 5th “World Nutella Day 2009″ – a day to celebrate, to get creative with, and most importantly, to EAT Nutella.
If you would like to participate in World Nutella Day along with all of us, the instructions follow below.
How to participate:
1. Do something, anything with Nutella. Make a recipe, take a picture of yourself eating it with a BIG spoon, make art, wax poetic, re-live your first experience eating Nutella. Have a Nutella-eating contest or even a Nutella party!
2. Take pictures and/or upload a video then blog about it ON February 5th, 2009. In your blog post, include links to Ms. Adventures in Italy, Bleeding Espresso, and World Nutella Day as well as the World Nutella Day 2009 badge/button (take from my blog here). Please try to post ON FEBRUARY 5 so that we can create a true chocolaty hazelnut wave across the blogosphere on World Nutella Day!
3. Email nutelladay [at] nutelladay [dot] com with the subject “Nutella Day Entry” and include:
* Your Name
* Your Blog’s Name
* Your Blog’s URL
* Your Post URL/Permalink
* One 100×100 pixel photo
The round-up of all submissions will be posted on Monday, February 9, 2009, but in the meantime, please feel free to post this announcement on your blog to spread the word!
And if you want to use an organic or other type of Nutella substitute, that’s ok too!
